Outlast developer Red Barrels Games is playing their cards very close to their chest with info on the much anticipated sequel to their first-person horror/survival adventure. The developer put out a nifty little screen today along with explanation on their pacing for the release of Outlast 2.
The screen was posted up on the Red Barrels Twitter account. Outlast 2 is a new descent into madness, this time appearing to explore themes of religious zealotry. The screen above seems to feature another cross-like object, although given the sharp tip, the wielder will probably be looking to plunge it into a player’s face in the game.
Along with the screen cap, Red barrels posted a link to an article over at Polygon, in which Red Barrels President Philippe Morin talked about the difference between the development of Outlast and Outlast 2.
”We’re in full control of what we ship and when we ship it,” says Morin. ”For the first Outlast, we were in a rush to release the game before running out of money. Because more than 3.5 million players have played the first game, we’re now in a position to make decisions based on our ambitions.”
Good news for the quality of the product it would seem, though as of this time, the only thing we know for sure is that Outlast 2 is coming in Fall 2016. I’d place my bets on release close to Halloween.
