After more than 2 years in a readily playable Early Access phase, Clockwork Empires is finally ready to launch as a fully fleshed out title toward the end of the month.
The peculiar blend of 'Sims meets Civ' throws in a healthy blend of Lovecraft-esque occultism that takes the old-timey colony management genre on a darker path.
Told through Steam to harness the power of steam itself, Clockwork Empires throws you into the role of a 'Junior Bureaucrat' looking to gain fame - but not fortune - through the management of an industrious colony.
Make them happy with their own inventions or simply use their smarts against them as a greedy ruler hell-bent on having them work hard for the betterment of your own life. Watch out, though; the dark ages were apparently filled with ritual nightmares and fishpeople eager to cause a ruckus in your fine - or not so fine - establishment.
Clockwork Empires forms into a full Steam release October 26. And while there's no new trailer to go along with it, there's a lengthy playthrough handled by the developers from 2014.
