With Blizzcon closing with no mention of the company readying vanilla World of Warcraft servers following their meeting with the Nostalrius team, the noble warriors of the cause have had enough. Nostalrius will return, albeit in a slightly different form.
Not happy with how Blizzard have refused to answer their messages following a friendly - and very long - meeting a number of months ago, the Nostalrius team will be dishing out their server source code to another project that falls closely in-line with their own philosophy as to what a Legacy WoW server should be.
The Elysium project - which has somehow gone without the Cease & Desist letter that caused this whole mess - will begin working with the original Nostalrius 'Vanilla WoW' source code. Many of the old project's volunteers are already working on the secondary attempt. Alongside efforts on that front, a second server will open in due time.
Over on the Elysium side, its workers have already begun the process of putting their gift to good use. Character data has been frozen in preparation for the transfer, meaning the core of the Nostalrius experience shuttered by Blizzard's lawyers earlier in the year will be back in everything but name.
"Together we will bring true Legacy servers to the private server community until Blizzard does." said a member of the Elysium development team in a Reddit post. It's a bold statement to throw Blizzard's C&D letter back in their face, but we can see the good intent.
