Funcom is branching out into the open-world with Conan Exiles; a survival sim in the same vein as Rust or ARC: Survival Evolved. With a new developer diary video, we're given a little more insight to our humble beginnings and our potential ends.
With Early Access arriving at the end of next month, we'll likely be seeing a lot more of Conan Exiles in the weeks to come. Just don't get too attached to your home, as someone's likely to summon an religious deity and blast it to pieces.
Starting off crucified out in the desert, you're pushed to the ground and set free by a guy who's happy to see you left out in the sands in need of our basic life source - water. Setting out to find the rare commodity out in the heat, you'll go on to source materials for weapons and food from the hunt.
Miss the reveal trailer? You can still catch it over here.
But when the sands come alive, you're left with a dilemma. Call it a day and rush back to shelter from the storms, or craft a handy face-mask and brave the angered dust. And if you've worked your way from a makeshift abode to a lively little village, you can capture some natives and slaves. But we're calling them Thralls now instead. Blacksmiths are a highlight when it comes to Thrall professions, but it's nice to have a few personal dancers, too.
There's plenty of screenshots and a budding community waiting on the Conan Exiles Steam page, ready for next month's launch. Keep an eye on it for developer updates.
