We're closing in on a new season for Guild Wars 2, and while that might not mean much for those who enjoy the MMORPG's co-op efforts, it means a lot for those who focus solely on PvP.
Even since the days of the original Guild Wars a massive amount of the playerbase stuck to the game's arena-style PvP brawls. With the ability to creative a max-level character from the get-go purely for the sake of beating up other players, it's no surprise to see ArenaNet's sequel follow the same route.
Once the new season kicks off on December 13 players will see a drastic change in how they're both ranked and matched against opposing players. Expanding the available player pool plays one part in this, while another focuses on making sure those who climb to the top early on won't just stay there without continuing to play their part.
ArenaNet is known for elaborate in-game holidays. And April Fools was no different.
Switching over to mention the rewards for playing in each season, the developers have tweaked how this works, too. In previous seasons, earning rewards slowly became based on maintaining a win-streak. Once the changes are in place, you'll be playing matches to climb progressively climb a reward ladder - meaning even a loss will slowly contribute to your next rewrad. Playing well, however, will be the main way to gather up rewards more quickly.
There's a lot of in-depth talk over on the Guild Wars 2 blog page. But for those not willing to click-through, there's a handy Revamp video down below.
