There’s nothing quite like the brutal, bloody world of the medieval era. Knights in gleaming army dragging their boots through mud to fight a short, deadly battle in melee against similarly equipped enemies. A team of former Mount & Blade modders are building their own game for their own take on medieval war.
Of Kings and Men will be hitting Early Access soon, bringing with it massive 200-player skirmishes for would-be knights to challenge one another in. You’ll be able to capture territories, team up in factions, build up your skills, and unlock a variety of 13th century weapons including swords, polearms, spears, bows, and crossbows.
Throughout Early Access, a strategic layer will be built for the game, allowing players to stage political, economic, and military operations to conquer further lands. You’ll even be able to send your armies out to besiege player-built fortifications. While the developers at Donkey Crew might have gotten started with Mount & Blade mods, this game is built on a custom engine.
Of Kings and Men’s Early Access version will launch on August 25, and will remain there for some time. The developers expect the game to remain in early access for one-and-a-half to two years. Hopefully all that time in the oven will help them to bake up a special confection of brutal melee goodness.
