PC gamers know the deep ties the platform has with VOIP services, and with Discord being a runaway success overnight, prepare to see it around a lot more than you do already.
Since debuting last year, the web-based client has racked up over 25 million users. Celebrating the milestone with another hard push, they've announced the GameBridge SDK.
With the GameBridge SDK in place, game developers now have a quick and easy method to integrate voice-chat functionality into their titles. Allegedly keeping it a secret until Discord made their move, Cliff Bleszinski, lead designer on Lawbreakers, took to Twitter to announce that his upcoming multiplayer shooter would be one of the first to use the technology.

While other voice-solutions proved popular in the days gone by - like Ventrillo and Teamspeak - Discord came out of nowhere to show VOIP doesn't need to mean installing a new program and going through the pain that can be IP addresses. Doubling their userbase in the last month, it's clear their browser and mobile app strategy was enough to accelerate its growth.
What started off as a solution to playing mobile games with voice-support, Discord has become the go-to platform for most multiplayer titles.
