Capcom let loose today with the first screens and details on Alex, the first extra character for Street Fighter V.
He’s a grappler that can go for big damage with his Power Bomb command grab and has solid midrange offense. His V-Skill turns his next attack into hard hit, and his V-Trigger lets fly a powerful, guard-breaking clothesline. His Critical Art opens with a thunderous chop (say it with me: WOOOOO!), moves to a crucifix, and then viciously drives the opponent’s head into the ground. Ouch.
As will be standard with Street Fighter V’s upcoming characters, you can buy him with either real money or in-game earned fight money. We don’t know the exact real money cost, but we do know that players who’ve completed the very brief Character Story Mode will have ”more than enough” fight money to purchase Alex.
The update will hit later this month, and includes several more features. There’s a challenge mode that includes tutorials from basic to advanced topics and a series of combo trials for every character. The in-game shop will finally arrive, allowing you to spend your fight money. You’ll now have the option to challenge a ranked match opponent to a rematch and go for a 2 out of 3 contest. And finally, lobbies will finally allow up to 8 players, making them actual lobbies and not just de facto casual matches.
There will also be a handful of balance changes and bug fixes, which you can see the details of on the official update.
