Revealed at the seemingly annual Oculus Connect 3 show, Ready at Dawn - creators of the mixed-signal hype 'The Order: 1886' - were cited as a company well into developing a flagship title for the original virtual reality headset. Now, with the show having concluded with only a trailer of the soon-to-be-free shooter from Epic Games, Lone Echo has finally lifted the lid on its own introductory video.
For those constantly worried of running the motion sickness risks of a virtual reality headset already, Lone Echo is likely a game to flag on their warning signals. Floating around in space grabbing onto whatever object possible to ancor yourself is both an incredible and terrifying feat to imagine doing in person - and probably still rather daunting within the magic of VR.
While there's little in the way of extended gameplay footage, a number of publications managed to get hands-on time with the title, leading to multiple demo impression pieces drifting around the web. There's high praise all around so far, suggesting the Oculus Rift is gearing up to release a lineup of what should be considered its killer apps as a gaming platform next year.
Though the announcement trailer paints Lone Echo as the narrative pitched to us during the Oculus Connect keynote, early reports of the demo build seem to bill the title as 'soccer in space'. Whether it's a representation of the final game, or merely a simple taste of how it controls is still a little hazy at the minute. Other publications in attendance cite how there was no hands-on time with the title's single player campaign.
Lone Echo, unlike Robo Recall, doesn't have an immediate release date in mind. But it's understood the vast majority of the titles demonstrated at the show are aiming for release next year.
Those looking to read the accounts of those lucky few players should head on over to GameInformer at least.
