You remember how 2015 was the year of FMV? Well, the PC missed out on one major full-motion video milestone: the latest Need for Speed! Thankfully, we shan’t have to wait much longer for this ridiculous display of street-racing machismo.
The game will launch in North America March 15 and worldwide March 17. Since its an EA game, you’ll naturally have to have Origin installed if you want to partake. (Hey, it’s not THAT bad.) If you’re an Origin Access member, you can access the game early on March 10.
EA is promising 4k resolution and an unlocked framerate, so hopefully they’re doing right by the PC port. The PC version will also include manual transmission options, which the console versions lacked, and they’re “adding steering wheel support for a selection of wheels from Logitech, Thrustmaster and Fanatec” for all your simulation(ish) needs.
The Need for Speed reboot didn’t exactly set the world on fire when it released on consoles late last year, but if you’re in need of an arcade racer, it might just do the trick. One can only hope the additional PC features make for a superior product.
