Sol Trader just barely made its funding goal when it hit Kickstarter last year, but the unique space game is gearing up for its final release soon. Described as ”a single player space game all about people,” the game will let you live out your spacefaring fantasies in a procedurally generated world filled with thousands of unique NPCs.
You’ll choose the details of your character’s life from birth through major life points, determining your personality, friends, family, contacts, and enemies. At the same time, two hundred years of galactic history is generated, ensuring that those you interact with have history, wants, and needs of their own.
Sol Trader could just make our list of the Best Indie Games on PC when it releases later this year.
As you explore through 2D flight, you’ll trade, customize your ship, and run missions. You’ll be able to learn about your friends and enemies through conversation, and even blackmail them if a particularly juicy detail comes to light. The sandbox runs until your character dies, either by combat or old age.
Sol Trader has the potential to be a very cool, very unique sandbox space sim. It’s due to release on Steam June 6th, and you can check out a playable demo through the game’s official site.
