With the 2016 games upon us, a number of digital competitions are trying to channel the spirit of athletic sport, though with only vague references so as not to enrage the trademark gods enthroned upon Mt. Olympics. Fractured Space is taking the opportunity to launch their Olympian update, filled with opportunities for you to show your national pride.
You’ll be able to deck out your ship with flag skins from the US, UK, France, Germany, and Russia, and wins under each flag will be tracked to determine which nation is the most dominant in space. If you’re not the patriotic sort, you can also display some freebooter pride with a Jolly Roger flag.
There are more important updates, as well. You no longer have to move down a tree to unlock ships, as each vessel can be unlocked at any time, allowing you to grab simpler and more advanced craft whenever you please. Two new maps are coming into the rotation, and a new Experimental Mode will offer a unique weekly flavor of match. A new ship, the TDS Executioner, will let you dig into some fast strike tactics.
This is the last big update before Fractured Space comes out of Alpha and into Beta. The MOBA-esque space combat title is free-to-play on Steam.
