The long rumored Skyrim remaster turned out to be true. Bethesda has announced Skyrim Special Edition for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
Featuring improved lighting and atmosphere effects, Skyrim Special Edition is clearly intended more for console players than PC fans, who have been enjoying improved visual effects through mods since the game’s release in 2011. Console players will have the chance to play with mods for the first time.
There is no word yet on whether or not the new visual effects will be rolled into current PC versions of Skyrim, or if it will require a separate purchase.
