Trion Worlds has announced that their turn-based MOBA Atlas Reactor will begin a new “Alpha Sneak Peek” on February 18th, including a new map and playable characters, as well as a new mod system.
Players can sign up for the Alpha Sneak Peek on the official site. When a player wins a match during the Peek, one character will be permanently unlocked leading up to the game’s full release. Winning three matches will unlock a new character style. All players in the Peek will receive free in-game currency, allowing them to buy new characters and new mods.
Mods are a new in-game mechanic, where players can put special buffs on their character. They will also be able to see what kind of buffs are being put on their opponent’s during gameplay, and adjust accordingly.
The biggest difference between Atlas Reactor and other MOBAs is that it is a turn-based game. Not only that, but instead of being IGO-UGO (I go, you go), it’s WEGO (we go). In other words, everyone has 30 seconds to decide their move, and everyone’s turn is resolved at the same time. A certain cat-and-mouse game happens because players have to guess what their opponent will do blindly.
There is no set official release date for Atlas Reactor as of yet. The Alpha Sneak Peek ends on February 24th.
