Adventure games! They had a sudden renaissance a few years ago, but once Telltale led the charge toward cinematic storytelling with the Walking Dead, the traditional point-and-clickers seemed to slowly fade out of the spotlight once again. Thankfully, Wadjet Eye has been keeping the dream alive, and their latest adventure, Shardlight, is due very soon.
Shardlight casts you as Amy Wellard, a woman dealing with the fallout (pun very much intended) of a nuclear apocalypse 20 years prior. A disease called Green Lung is ravaging the local populace, and the vaccines are locked up in the hands of a wealthy few.
GameWatcher’s own Chris Capel got his eager hands on the game for a recent preview, which was pretty positive! I’ve played through the original Blackwell trilogy, but I haven’t kept up with Wadjet Eye’s output since then. But the lovely, hand-crafted pixel animation and solid voice acting on the display in the trailer below have me pretty eager to see what’s up with this latest adventure.
Shardlight releases for PC on March 8.
