If there's one thing Game of Thrones doesn't have enough of, it's Centaurs. But with Crowfall offering up a discount to its current packages over the holidays, you can fight alongside some if you wish.
It's in an odd predicament, but rather than having the usual crowdfunding idea of allowing its pledgers 'Early Access' to the title they're funding, Crowfall calls it an 'investment' and locks player testing behind an eye-watering $69 dollar fee (tax not incuded) and even then only at specific times.
With the next testing phase kicking off later today, they're offering a few discounts on some of the extra 'parcels' you can add to your account. Similar to how a game like EVE: Online or Star Citizen has luxury gameplay add-ons at a price, Crowfall expects you to shell out more to have your citizens gather certain resources.
The title infamously went back to crowdfunding just days after reaching $10 Million in pledges.
Three new resource packs have become available; knotwood, cobblestone and slag metal. These harvest-able nodes will become available once the corresponding 'parcel' has been added to your pledge total at a reduced cost of $7.50 for the holidays. That's a half-price offering for those already in possession of a backer package. For those without, they've added "bonus parcels" to certain pledge packages going forward.
It's a little cheaper than it once way, but it's still costly to try out Crowfall for yourself. Next year's beta testing phase will be open to those who're not looking to throw a down-payment in the ring, but it's still a little while off. The 'sale' ends Sunday, January 8.
