After the PT-inspired horror game Allison Road was recently revealed to be cancelled on Twitter, many gamers were left disappointed and unsure why the first person survival game was cancelled by Lilith Ltd and Team 17. Lilith did promise that a statement explaining everything would be issued, although it’s only just come out and spoken about it today, almost two weeks since the cancellation was confirmed.
“After a long consideration between Team17 and ourselves, we have reached a mutual agreement to end our collaboration on publishing Allison Road under Team17’s Games label,” the statement read on the official Facebook page. “Sometime things pan out differently than expected as game development and publishing have so many layers of complexity… We’d like to especially thank everyone for their support through-out, it has and will always be appreciated!”
So that’s an official statement from the developers, Lilith Ltd, we haven’t heard anything official from Team 17 yet, but we’ll get in touch to see if they want to talk about it. A lot of the comments on Facebook seem to be frustration, with one user asking “Why not go back to KickStarter or find another publisher?”. He’s correct, it was a pretty highly anticipated game, but from what we can tell it appears to have been outright cancelled with no hope of it coming back.
There’s still a lot of unanswered questions, but hopefully Team 17 can help answer some of those for us if they’re willing to talk… Stay tuned.
