Of all the things to be said about Star Wars: Battlefront, both good and bad, one of the weirdest is that it’s missing the whole “star” part of the Star Wars. Many of the series’ most iconic battles take place in space, but Battlefront keeps all its fights locked to terrestrial locations. But that changes with the game’s latest add-on.
The Death Star expansion covers the franchise’s best-known battle with a brand-new game mode called Battle Station. The mode plays out in three phases. Phase 1 will see Rebel X-Wings and A-Wings doing battle with TIE Fighters and TIE Interceptors in deep space, dogfighting it out to either assault or defend a Star Destroyer.
Phase 2 has rebel ground forces landing inside the Death Star to extract a very important droid. Finally, Phase 3 covers the final fight to destroy the massive battle station, with hero units coming in the form of Luke Skywalker’s Red-5 X-Wing and Darth Vader’s TIE Advanced.
The expansion will also include new Star Cards and Blasters, as well as ground heroes Bossk and Chewbacca, when it launches in September.
