While we got our first hints of Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst’s story in a trailer released earlier this year, EA just updated the game’s official website with some more details on what to expect from Faith’s upcoming adventure.
The game takes place in Glass, a city five million strong, which is divided into three districts. The Anchor district is home to the most affluent, filled with corporate monument skyscrapers and the trendiest nightclubs and shopping centers, with its grandest monument–a giant shopping mall called the Bauble–currently under construction. Downtown is home to both a series of fashionable boutiques as well as the Elysium Corporation’s medical research center, and is a hub for Runner activity. Finally, the View is the last stop for upwardly mobile citizens waiting for their invite to join the mysterious Sky City.
Three factions vie for dominance in the city. The Conglomerate, a council of squabbling corporations each vying for increased power, currently rules the nation, while the Runners, including our hero Faith, are thieves and couriers who make their living off the corporate grid. Black November is a resistance group looking to overthrow the restrictive corporate power by increasingly extreme methods.
Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst is due out May 24.
