Most films based on videogames are usually met with some skepticism, but anything can be a quality product if actual effort is behind it, as Gore Verbinski proved by turning a lame Disney ride into a magnificent pirate adventure. That’s why a movie based on the Warcraft universe has promise: the director is Duncan Jones, who is best known for the film “Moon”.
A new 60 second teaser trailer has been released that promises a faithful, fun adventure.
The trailer opens with a human and orc on an empty battlefield, ready to engage in mano a orc-o combat, before flashing to various locations in Azeroth, such as a massive rally at Stormwind and a shot of Orzammar. The CGI itself seems to be a mixed-bag, but the action is appropriately intense.
Warcraft will be hitting theaters this coming June, and hopefully it’ll be an engaging fantasy film. With Jones, who is the son of the late David Bowie, at the helm, it’s a good bet.
