CCP are getting rid of buyers remorse for both new and veteran players of the Sci-Fi MMO in the latest expansion Ascension. The new Fitting Simulation tool allows players to try out and preview modules and fittings in their ship to preview the changes that they would make.
This will allow players to try out different ship builds and see detailed stats and relevant information about how effective the changes would in comparison to what they have currently. It’s a feature that players have been asking about for a long time and finally, it has arrived.
CCP explains ”: “You can then fit those hulls with simulated modules and see how certain stats, such as velocity, signature radius, and damage output, change as you activate and overheat your weapons, boosters, microwarpdrive, or damage repair modules. This allows you to experiment on your fit and you’ll be able find out before you buy all the modules and ship for your dream fit that you are actually 1% short on CPU.”
This feature implementation was no doubt heavily influenced by the major change to EVE’s business model with the Ascension update. EVE will no have a free to play option which is an attempt to attract new players to the long time MMO. The fitting simulation feature is something CCP obviously felt was necessary to help the new players to the game but is also helpful to long time players.
