Publisher Green Man Loaded has announced that The Black Death, which is being developed by UK-based indie studio Syrin Studios, will be released in Early Access under their label sometime in March 2016.
The Black Death is basically Day Z set during the Dark Ages, as the bubonic plague is ravaging Europe. Players can take on the role of one of ten occupations and try to survive the hostile world. They will have to ”choose (their) own path in this dark and medieval land. Complete with a diverse population of villagers, wildlife, and infected victims,”
As with games like Day Z and Rust, players create the world they live in. ”It’s not just the plague you need to watch out for. Hunt, harvest or steal supplies to avoid meeting your end in a harsh medieval world,” warns the developer. Occupations players can choose from include warriors, peasants, minstrels, and so on. Weapons, armor, houses and so on have to be purchased, and how players earn their coin is up to them.
Green Man Loaded released a teaser trailer to set the mood of this forboding setting. Check out the official site here.
