Set apart from all other threats in XCOM, there was certainly another group of enemies built to strike terror into your troops and break your careful strategies: the dastardly Sectopod. Many things have changed and evolved in XCOM 2 and the Sectopods are no exception. Get a peak at what you’re dealing with in the latest of mechanical ADVENT abominations.
Firaxis and 2K rolled out a briefing of the Sectopod threat on the official XCOM 2 website. For you recruits out there, the Sectopod is essentially a bipedal tank capitalized by its ability to lead heavy assaults on your troops. They can march right through walls and have a terrifying cannon that can cut through targets at long range.
Some changes that have come to the Sectopod include a lightning field which will trigger on any soldier foolish enough to come into melee range. Further, the Terror Cannon now has piercing capabilities, capable of punching a hole through multiple targets. Perhaps the most alarming change comes from its long legs though. The Sectopod can extend itself up to two stories high to lay vision on enemies foolishly thinking themselves safe behind cover or on a rooftop.
XCOM 2 is arriving on February 5, 2016. Be prepared by checking of previews of the first few missions of the game over on GameWatcher’s YouTube channel, such as the video below. Beware of spoilers obviously!
