UPDATE: The stream is over, but you can still check out the archive below!
Greetings, folks! A little bit later on today we’re going to be streaming a prerelease version of an upcoming indie town-builder called Villagers. (Though by “we” I mean “I.” It’s me. I’m going to do it.) Hopefully we can evade the plague long enough to get ourselves a bustling little center of medieval commerce going.
Villagers casts you as a city-planning savant challenged with successful management of a pre-industrial community. You’ve got to manage resources, plan building locations, allocate jobs, and generally keep your villagers happy and healthy. Naturally, you’ll have to work to keep out the disease-carrying carnival performers, which might be something of a political statement. There are also bandits and wild animals threatening your survival.
The six chapter story mode tells your journey from city zero to city hero, with each mission introducing mechanics of basic building, resource management, provisions, trading, and so on and so forth. A free play mode lets you take what you’ve learned into a sandbox experience.
If you’re interested in this little slice of sim-villaging, Villagers will be out March 25 on Steam. If you’re on the fence, that’s what we’re here for! We’ll (I’ll) be streaming as of 6:30pm GMT. If you, like me, are a dirty American, that time is 12:30pm Eastern.
