If you're a player of Grinding Gear Games' 'Path of Exile', you're probably aware of how big a day December 2 is for you. With the 2.5.0 update coming your way, you're likely already clued up as to what to expect. But for those who might have taken a break - or anyone vaguely interested in the game - here's a quick low-down of the upcoming 'Breach' update.
Once December 2 swings around, a whole new kind of beast will be set upon Wraeclast. The month of December may usually incite excitement and glee with Christmas being just around the corner, but Grinding Gear Games identify this period as one were players are more likely to throw extra hours into their demon-slaying hobby. So they're here to make sure there's enough killing to go around.
The current Challenge League - a system which levels the playing field every few months for players to start fresh and race ahead - will be getting a little bit of a Breach make-over. Though you can still play Path of Exile's answer to Seasons in any way you see fit, you'll now notice a 'Breach' open up every now and then offering to take you to a realm filled with treasure and, of course, deadly Breach monsters.
While only a 30-60 second affair, there's a number of Breach possibilities included buffed up monsters for those doing a little too well, to 5 different types of openings - Fire, Lightning, Cold, Physical, Chaos - with those last two been far more rare than their counterparts. Head into a Breach with the right Breachstone, and you'll have a chance to dive into a Breachlord's domain. And of course, there's every chance for a Breach to drop some unique gear.
With the League resetting once again as the update goes live, December 2 is likely one of the best times to join Path of Exile. And with one of Diablo 2's leads helping out, it's surely in good hands.
