PC gamers have had limited access to Microsoft’s flagship shooter series, as Halo hasn’t been on computers since Halo 2. But now, Halo 5 is hitting PC! Or, rather, a small part of it, in the form of Forge mode. The customization tool will come to Windows 10 on September 8.
Forge allows players to create customize multiplayer stages for Halo 5’s online matches. The PC edition will feature mouse and keyboard support for more precise object placement, resolution support going up to 4k, the ability to host custom matches for up to 16 players, and a multi-platform content browser.
It’s just a small piece of Halo 5, but it’s likely the test ground for 343 Studios to figure out PC development and get ready to bring upcoming Halo titles to Windows. Halo 5: Forge will be a free download on the Windows 10 store as of September 8.
