Mods have given added life to a great number of games, including Paradox’s city-builder, and the publisher feels it’s time they highlighted that content in an official capacity. The company will soon offer official DLC packs featuring the work of community creators. The first of these will feature Art Deco architecture made by Matt “Shroomblaze” Crux.
Unlike the mostly disastrous launch of paid mods for Skyrim some time ago, these Content Creator Packs will feature entirely exclusive content contracted by Paradox specifically for the add-on, so there won’t be a situation where a previously free mod now costs money. Paradox is offering a payment to cover the cost of production and sharing the revenue with modders.
“After over 3,400 hours in Cities: Skylines, it’s wonderful to have my own buildings become part of the game’s landscape,” said Matt Crux. “Because the Art Deco era is so highly regarded as one of the best building styles of history, I think it needs to be represented as such. I made the suggestion to Paradox Interactive and they allowed me to come up with the buildings of my choice. I’m eager to see what the rest of the community thinks of them.”
The Art Deco pack will be available soon, and more are likely to follow.
