The largest actors union in Hollywood officially called a strike early Friday morning against several prominent video game companies after the two sides failed to reach an agreement on an increase in compensation for performers.
After this the SAG-AFTRA released a document online showing what projects and companies may be affected.
Some of these projects are concluded and others were expected. However, one did stand out under the title of Brothers in Arms. A new Brothers in Arms game has been speculated for a while although developers Gearbox have remained closed lipped on the subject.
The last time a new game was mentioned Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford said back in Summer “I feel like I’m on the brink of it, but we’re not quite there yet,” meaning that they certainly had not started on the game in a major way. Since Gearbox has finished its main development on Battleborn, it could mean that a new Brothers game has been started.
There has not been a core Brothers in Arms game since 2008 and with the dominating Call of Duty and Battlefield franchises with the disappointments of games like Homefront 2, a new Brothers game would be a welcome addition if Gearbox can get it right. We’re looking at you Alien Colonial Marines…
