Having just released Planet Coaster to critical acclaim, it's hard to see Frontier Developments in anything but a bright white, angelic light. But the group works on more than just the popular park management sim, and the players of their other project - Elite Dangerous - are not too pleased with their actions.
Citing increased instances of 'Combat logging', players of Frontier Games' interstellar experience have taken to Reddit lately to vent their concerns that the company is doing little to combat an issue that detracts from one of the game's redeeming features - PvP.
The execution of 'Combat logging' essentially means logging out or forcing a disconnect when you're about to be engaged in combat - thus dodging the encounter. Elite Dangerous is all about making a living among the stars, and when player pillaging is stopped by those essentially refusing to play the game, others are left feeling cheated out of the experience.
Looking to get hyped over another space sim? Star Citizen recently released its on-going development schedule
Taking a stand of his own, Reddit user Jonticles fabricated and filmed evidence of 'combat logging' and submitted it through Frontier's ticketing system - all of which were closed without Frontier taking any further action. Zac, the game's community manager eventually came forward through Reddit to assure fans that the studio is monitoring the situation; though who knows what will come of it.
The Reddit community isn't buying into his comments just yet, but hopefully someone will come along to prove them wrong. It's one of the better space sim on the market these days, and it'd be a shame to see it fall to bad management.
