Grand Theft Auto V has been wildly popular! So was IV. So was San Andreas. So was Vice City. So was III. It’s no surprise that Rockstar would be working on a sixth entry, but given their lengthy development cycles, the only question was when.
An anonymous source told TechRadar that preliminary work on GTA6 has already begun. It’s in the very early stages, though, so the team hasn’t even settled on a setting yet.
A inspiration we can cross off the list? Tokyo. It seems that Rockstar made a trip to Japan some years ago to consider the possibility of a GTA set in the land of the rising sun, but ultimately pulled the plug due to problematic road structure and other issues that would prevent the series from moving away from their largely American settings.
Of course, Rockstar takes their time, so don’t expect any official announcements any time soon. After all, we’re still waiting for Red Dead Redemption 2.
