Marza Animation Planet has announced that it will be releasing a new Resident Evil animated film in 2017, which will star series protagonist Leon S. Kennedy.
Not much is known about the film, save for the fact that it’s being made in collaboration with Italian motorcycle company Ducati Motor Holding (which the brief press release helpfully notes is ”famous and popular for its high-performance and stylish design.”)
Takanori Tsujimoto will be directing the film; he had previously helmed various Japanese live-action films like Monster Killer, Hard Revenge Milly and Bushido Man. The screenwriter, Makoto Fukami, had previously penned such anime films as Psycho-Pass: The Movie and The Torture Club.
The animation studio is best known for providing the CGI cutscenes for Sega games including Virtua Fighter 5, the Phantasy Star series, and the Sonic series since 2006. Marza Animation Planet produced its first actual animated film, Harlock: Space Pirate, in 2013. It’s also producing a Sonic the Hedgehog animated film, which will be released in 2018.
