Is the rebooted DOOM title just not scratching that classic Doom itch? Maybe it is, but you're just looking to relive your teen years with a bit of 2.5D gun-totting action. Sound fun? There's a brand-new Doom 64 mod coming just before Halloween.
Officially dubbed Brutal Doom 64, the elaborate mod has been in the works for quite some time now. Instead of opting to conjure up some new single player stages, Brutal Doom focuses on the preservation of the 90s title by featuring all of its original 32 levels yet allowing creatures like the Revenant and Mastermind - cut from the original release - to hunt you down.
On top of the addition of the long-forgotten enemies, the mod even makes changes to how the game renders particle and special effects, gore, sound, animations and lighting - with a smoother shotgun reload being listed specifically.
There's even going to be a survival co-op server going live on release.
Thinking of taking the plunge? You'll have to figure out the steps through the ModDB website. If you're still not sure about the whole thing, the trailer should whet your appetite a little.
