Back in 2011, Flying Wild Hog released their future dystopian shooter Hard Reset, which featured sumptuous neon-filled graphics and a unique 2-gun mechanic in which the player had only two guns, but each one was versatile and had many functions. The developer has revealed a remaster of the game, Hard Reset Redux.
The plot is familiar to anyone who played the original game. ”Surrounded by vast, hostile wastelands, the remnants of humankind’s dwindling population live within the closed city of Bezoar, but the walls have been breached. As a CLN soldier, you are all that stands between the hive mind machines of The Sanctuary, and total extinction.”
Standard stuff, but the redux brings some new things to the mix, such as a new melee weapon, the “cyber-katana” (as if the game couldn’t get any more cyberpunk). It also introduces more enemies, as well as an upgrade to its already beautiful graphics. The game will also enjoy better rebalanced gameplay to give players more of a challenge.
What isn’t mentioned is if it’ll have a longer campaign or not. Chris Capel’s review stated that had the game been a little longer, it would have received a much higher score than he’d awarded it. Hopefully, the fact that the game adds new enemies means that there will be additional levels that their uniqueness will exploit.
Flying Wild Hog was also vague about when the game would be released, only mentioning it would be “coming soon” to PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Stay tuned for more info as it comes.
