Though many still swear by the life of boxed copies - either for collection purposes or just to have something physical to show for their exchange of cash - we're entering a time where CD-Drives are absent from most ready-made machines. So if you're worried about the longevity of your boxed copy, fret not! SEGA is dishing out the Steam keys.
To ensure you're never without your Dawn of War, SEGA will honour your request to have a Steam key sent straight out to you - assuming you're able to provide sufficient evidence to confirm you own said boxed copy.
The news comes through a surprising forum post spotted earlier today in which KAT_RE explained on the official Dawn of War forums that filing a support ticket through SEGA's support network would grant you access to a Steam copy of the game to keep in case you ever lose your discs or just need a more conveniant way to store your growing collection.
What's the latest with Dawn of War III? Howling Banshees.
Granted, while the post itself doesn't mention specifically which Dawn of War title the offer extends to, it's tagged under both the DOW and DOW II tags - so it sounds as if you're good to go on either one.
So even if you deem Dawn of War III to be the king of the series and throw away your boxed copies of the lesser-product in a fit of roleplaying rage, you'll still have a Steam copy to go back to when the eventual nostalgia strings start to tug.
