Football Manager 2017 is almost upon us with its release date set for 4th November. The long-running franchise has a solid history and expectant player base. We know that starting a new career can be challenging, especially if like me, you enjoy picking a small club to play as and raise them through the leagues.
We’ve come up with a few lists that should help you pick up some early bargains. There’s a shortlist of young cheap stars as well as a list of some great free agents worth picking up to strengthen your team.
Best Cheap Players
(Prices may vary, selection is based upon the large database loaded, including England, France, Italy, Spain, Argentina and Brazil loaded as playable. If you don’t do the same, then chances are the asking price will vary.)
Andre - A 16-year-old Brazilian striker at Santos, you should be able to pick him up for around 5 million.
Romero, Maximiliano - A 17-year-old Argentine striker at Velez, you should be able to pick him up for around 2.5 million.
Victor - A 16-year-old Brazilian defensive wing back at Cruzeiro, you should be able to pick him up for around 1.7 million.
Colidio, Facundo - A 16-year-old Brazilian Striker at Boca Juniors, you should be able to pick him up for around 1.1 million.
Upamecano, Dayot - A 17-year-old French center back at RB Salzburg, you should be able to pick him up for around 2.8 million.
Augustinsson, Ludwig - A 22-year-old Swedish defensive midfielder at Kobenhavn, you should be able to pick him up for around 3.3 million.
Bingourou Kamara - A 19-year-old French goalkeeper at Tours, you should be able to pick him up for around 3 million.
Free Agents
Free Agents can be a total bargain and it’s a great way to pick up experienced players at the twilight of their career. Free agents are a highly useful tool to improve small clubs that don’t have the cash to shell out for rising stars. Here are a couple of our favorites at the start of the game.
Michael Essien - A 33-year-old defensive midfielder with a solid track record.
Fausto Rossi - At 25, Rossi has plenty of mileage left and will be a solid midfield investment.
Charles N’Zogbia - The 30-year-old attacking midfielder is an ex-Newcastle first teamer who would be a great addition.
Dimitar Berbatov - The 35-year-old ex-Manchester United star may just be the striker needed to help a lower club put those goals away.
Sulley Muntari - A pedigree in football that would strengthen anyone’s midfield
Ronaldinho - Who wouldn’t want this 36 year old attacking wizard on their team for free?
Emmanuel Adebayor - Well worth picking up for a championship side looking for an experienced striker.
There’s plenty more where these came from but these players should be a benefit to any team regardless of financial and squad need.
