If you're at all into strategy games, you've likely heard of Phoenix Point by now. If not, maybe you've heard of a little something called X-Com. Whichever it is, this news caters to either side.
Revealed last year through an up-close and personal look at its systems, Phoenix Point is a turn-based strategy title aiming to be the best of the best.
Being pieced together by Julian Gollop - the creator of the original X-Com (and essentially the genre as a whole), Phoenix Point solidifies his efforts to re-enter the video game market. Being handled over at this new studio Snapshot Games, they were aiming for a 2018 release. That goal seems a whole lot more attainable today.
Jump Back To Almost Two Months Ago When A Trailer Was All We Had
With over a month left on the clock, Phoenix Point has managed to extract $500,000 from potential buyers and investors through a Fig crowdfunding campaign. Reaching its goal in just under a week, it's stretchgoal time for the ambitious return to form. Drivable vehicles - said to be needed to take down large alien walkers - will be added should funding reach $650,000 with the strategic 'Floating Phoenix Base' being added at $850,000.
If you're yet to take a look at Gollop's fresh alien invasion, be sure to check out the pitch video down below.
