Despite launching Mafia 3 last year, it's still the five-year old Grand Theft Auto V that's reeling in the money for Rockstar and their holding company Take-Two Interactive.
Talking revenue during the very same conference call that had executives skirt the question of Red Dead Redemption 2 coming to PC, they spoke about how Grand Theft Auto V and its included Grand Theft Auto Online contributed to the company's high earnings.
In fact, despite launching back in 2013, Grand Theft Auto V achieved its highest Q1 (starting this April) earnings this year, meaning it's pulling in more cash for the group than it did around this same time any other year. CEO Stauss Zelnick noted this was due to the recent Gunrunning update to Grand Theft Auto Online, but didn't divulge specific numbers. Take-Two originally expected earnings from Grand Theft Auto V to 'level out', but with the game continuing to sell high volumes - now having sold over 80 million copies - they're now expecting it to enjoy its best year yet.

Of course, it wasn't just Grand Theft Auto contributing to the good financial times of Take-Two as a whole. In terms of sport, NBA2K17 is now officially their best selling sports title to date raking up over 8 million units alone. WWE 2k17, WWE SuperCard and Mafia 3 were also mentioned as being sizable contributors. There was a brief mention of another big-name title on the way, but no much more than that. VG247 seems to think it's pointing toward either Gearbox Software's next Borderlands title or another entry in the Bioshock franchise. We can hope for both. As a whole, total net sales are up 28%, with VG247 having the full details across each sales avenue.
With Red Dead Redemption reportedly sharing similar online functionality - and why wouldn't it? - we can understand why shareholders may begin wondering why a PC version of the massively anticipated sequel hasn't been revealed yet. Hopefully Rockstar will have something for us soon. Perhaps that's why it was delayed out into next year?
