Despite all the attention on how PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has somehow sapped the userbase of a 'dying' Dota 2, the MOBA genre is still going strong. The lastest contender, Battlerite, is due to leave Early Access real soon. And when it does, it'll enter the same F2P status as its biggest rivals.
Always known to eventually shed its pricetag, Battlerite is now on the home stretch after announcing plans to leave Early Access behind in favour of a full launch on November 8.
In one last stretch to gain some attention Stunlock Studios temporarily opened the floodgates by hosting a full week of free play for those who hadn't already thrown £15 their way for the priviledge. Announcing its finalised release date on the first anniversary of its Early Access debut, it's still rocking a 'Very Positive' user review ratio on both Steam's 'All' and 'Recent' metrics.

Unlike most other MOBA titles, Battlerite actually feels more befitting of the 'Battle Arena' title. Games are typically far shorter than its distant cousins, meaning there's a far greater focus on non-stop action rather than the early RPG mechanics to beef up a character before engaging in bigger brawls. Battlerite will launch with a new champion, over 200 new items and some new music to celebrate.
If it's something you like the look of already, you can join in the Halloween event to earn some goodies those who join at launch won't get to see. It'll set you back a little, but Battlerite is a thriving game that's only going to get bigger once it sheds its entrance fee.
