The PC modding scene has been around for just as long as PC gaming as a whole. Users spending day and night tweaking a title to their liking is, and always has been, a staple of the platform. And that's why Colossal Order are included a select few with the Cities: Skylines - Mass Transit.
Speaking to our own Christian Vaz at EGX Rezzed in London over the weekend, Karoliina Korppoo - the game's lead designer - explained how the expansion would incorporate fan-favorite mods.
While Cities: Skylines - Mass Transit will offer up a plethora of new ways for users to ease congestion on their fictional, functional towns at a price, the expansion will release alongside a free update to the base game that will make a handful of popular user-mods fully-fledged features for all to enjoy.

"We looked at a lot of the most popular mods and in the end, I think we selected five or six (I can’t remember exactly) because we felt like these matched really closely with our ideas." said Korppoo when asked about the decision process. When asked why these were being included, Korppoo said "With the additions that we chose, inspired by mods, we feel that the game becomes more of the game that we want it to be and we feel that the community agrees with this"
The full interview touches on how the decision essentially came about through the concerns of those unable or unwilling to go through the hassle of modding. Paradox Interactive has spoken with the developers of some major mods and worked with them to ensure the wider playerbase has access to a game users have shaped into a finer product.
