Forever considered the true beast of the Overwatch roster, Roadhog will soon see a major change that might just relegate him from the ranks.
While most players have always been aware of Roadhog's hook move - in which he drags his target toward him after gouging them with a chain - they've also been more aware of how simply staying out of sight sometimes isn't enough to dodge the attack.
For the most part, Roadhog is a close-range powerhouse, so with the ability to drag players in close for a quick kill with his shotgun, the idea for ranged characters is to simply keep their distance, bait an unsuccessful hook and blast down the king of scrap-metal before he has a chance to send it out again. But with the hook sometimes defying the laws of physics by grabbing players through objects, walls and even other players, Blizzard will be testing a change that should see most of the impossible feats squashed.
Lara Croft has become somewhat of a staple of 'females in videogames', but her main writer won't be sticking around
Talking through the official forums, Principle Designer, Geoff Goodman, detailed the upcoming changes: "Firstly, the hook victim will now move in to the position directly in front of Roadhog, rather than just a straight line towards him. Secondly, the line-of-sight check to see if a hook should connect or not is now checked from Roadhog's position, instead of the hook's position. Lastly, there is a new persistent line-of-sight check back to Roadhog once the hook has landed. If this check fails, the hook breaks off and returns to Roadhog."
The quote has been condensed to fit into a single paragraph here, but Geoff goes into finer detail with each point in his original post. Roadhog will likely be a little weaker once the update lands, but the hook is still there. It just isn't magical.
