Not letting up on their assault of in-engine footage, KOEI TECMO are dishing out all the details when it comes to the traditional elements of the turn-based battle system at the heart of Blue Reflection.
Set to release at the end of the month, Blue Reflection signifies a slight change of pace for resilient JRPG crafters GUST as they put out a game far more realistic than their prior work - while retaining the element of fantasy they've concocted for decades.
Now that we've learned of Yuzu and Lime's desire to drag Hinako into the mysterious Common, it's time to learn how to put their battle techniques to the test. Slipping into their Reflector forms by way of an elaborate transformation sequence, the trio are able to maneuver around the devilishly puzzling alternate reality and fight back against the creatures attempting to spill out from its confines.

To do this, Hinako, Yuzu and Lime must pay careful attention to the Ether they're consuming to exist in the world. Each attack, supporting move or defensive maneuver drains the source of their magical powers, and the only way to keep the magic flowing boils down to their Ether Charge ability. Likely losing them a turn in combat at the same time, excess Ether needn't go to waste as each girl can then activate 'Overdrive' - a strategic decision that, while forcing to to recharge once more, can greatly turn the tide of battle as they're able to pull off multiple strikes in a single turn. Gather up enough Ether against the stronger 'Sephira' enemies, and you'll be able to guard against their fierce attacks as if they were simple-minding Common demons.
As much as it pains us to admit, words can only convey so much. If you like what you read, however, let this new trailer demonstrate what we couldn't.
