With Wildstar's last big update coming in October, the new year ushers in a new start for the colourful MMO thanks to the Primal Matrix system.
Offering a way for players to further progress their characters will staying at the current 50 level cap, the Primal Matrix can be viewed as a system similar to that of Diablo III's Nightmare difficulty and paragon levels.
By continuing your push through the galaxy's varies trials like instanced PvE, PvP, Contracts and Daily Quests, you'll soon be rewarded with Primal Essence - a material you'll be collecting and slotting into your personal Primal Matrix. Carried across your other characters, your collection of Primal Essence can be spent to unlock new abilities and stat increases to further boost the power of your characters.

To make up for your growing power, the Primal Difficulty Scaling comes into effect. Replacing the Veteran difficulty level at Prime 0, scaling up the number will increase the overall difficulty of the activity in question. With each upgrade become more viable as you progress through the system, you'll be revisiting classic dungeons and expeditions through a new pair of eyes with 2 new missions 'Coldblood Citadel' and 'Evil from the Ether' arriving on the same day.
It's a system designed to act as the framework for Wildstar's reimagined end-game, so expect more past and future content to recieve the scaling difficulty feature in time.
