Duke Nukem and Serious Sam are still two iconic stars of the FPS genre, and the idea of them starring in a game together should be exciting news. Well, it's happening now, as developer Nuriworks and publisher Insel have announced both Duke Nukem and Serious Sam will be joining their game Wild Buster: Heroes of Titan. Except it's not a shooter. It's a hack-n-slash action MMO. Details on this bizarre mash-up are below.
Duke Nukem was announced on the game's IndieGoGo campaign on September 29, and Serious Sam was announced today. This is what Patrick Streppel, CEO of publisher Insel Games had to say about Sam's inclusion:
“When we told Croteam about the addition of Duke Nukem to Wild Buster, they immediately agreed to give Sam a well-deserved vacation on the planet Titan so that the two of them could finally meet. We are honored that Croteam believes in our game and this paves the way for more heroes to join our galactic Hack’n’Slash fest!”
It's certainly an unusual fit for both heroes, but then despite the Diablo-style Action RPG gameplay of Wild Buster it still boils down to destroying a lot of aliens with high-powered weaponry, which both icons excel at. Duke Nukem and Serious Sam will be added to the game for free a short time after the game goes live on Early Access.
Wild Buster: Heroes of Titan itself is an online action RPG/MMO where players take on the roles of heroes, including Duke or Sam, to raid dungeons in either PvE or PvP. The game's currently in Alpha and the Early Access version should be available soon. It's got a full range of MMO features including, somehow, fishing.
You can see the video below for more information, or back the IndieGoGo campaign if you're feeling generous. Early Access will be available soon too. It's cool news, but we hope the next game Serious Sam and Duke Nukem star in together is a shooter.
