Microsoft has been wowing us with Halo trailers for years, but the new launch trailer for Halo Wars 2 could be a cut above the rest.
Though they've seemingly ditched pulling off a live-action trailer like they've used in their main-series titles before, this one manages to pull off that Hollywood blockbuster feel with nothing but pre-rendered cinematic, stern voices, moody scenes and some raw emotion.
Though it's about 2 weeks too early, it's a little less if you account for the 4 days of early access granted to those who pick up a copy of the game's 'Ultimate Edition'. As a 'Play Anywhere' title, it's one of the first to have a physical PC edition that grants the same benefits rather than a being a digital-only affair.
THQ Nordic Partners With Microsoft To Offer Up Physical PC Release Of Halo Wars 2
The trailer introduces us to everyone and everything we're expected to know for release. Crushing spartan forces left, right and centre, it isn't just the legendary warriors expected to put an end to the plans of Atriox - a Covenant Brute that his kind couldn't control. Grab your Warthogs, Scorpions and Ghosts and ride them into the battlefield alongside your UNSC foot-soldiers and reserved Spartan army. You'll probably be watching a lot of the die before long.
Halo Wars 2 marks the debut of the Halo Wars series on PC, but anyone picking up a copy of the game's upper-tier editions will be granted immediate access to the original Halo Wars through a newly re-vamped PC port.
