There's no hiding it that Conan Exiles has been a massive early success for Funcom. And with a likely large amount of resources going into keeping the game from buckling under the launch pressure, there's bound to be fans wondering what's to come in terms of new content for the Early Access title.
Split across three concurrent paths, the development team are will focus on bug and performance updates every one-two weeks with larger content patches equalling around 4-6 large-scale patches before the close of Holiday 2017 with the potential of one last 'launch' patch early next year. Track 3, however, focuses on biome introduction just as much as it will focus on the console side of things. This the path that will add more monsters, equipment and avatars.
A long-range, costly siege weapon - the trebuchet - will be one of the first new pieces of additional content that's sure to aid any attacking party with the option to keep your fallen foes in body lockers a little later on. Dyes will be introduced for clothing items as will a brand-new dungeon allowing Exiles to tread around its traps to reach a "beast unlike any other"
During the year-long Early Access course, the team hopes to bring computer controlled 'Purge' enemies to attack whenever your server's current players aren't at each other's throats already. The taming function will eventually stretch to animals, allowing for some degree of mounted combat atop heavier animals while leaving some as mere transport tools. Thralls will become a more robust feature with barracks, farming and schedules while Exiles will gain the ability to cut their health in favor of using dark magicks. But the biggest update will come with the game's first Biome - the grassy Highlands that will see a sudden environmental shift from the game's current harsh deserts. Expect a temperature system to arrive around the same time, too.
So; to summarise, the first year of Conan Exiles will see expanded locales, more useful Thralls, animals used to transport and wage war, new dungeons to explore, demons summoned at the cost of your own health and NPCs that want you dead just as much as your best friend.
