Closing in on its 1-year anniversary, Sheltered has gained its fourth major update. Available as a public beta today, the developers are hoping you'll help smooth out the rough edges.
The pixelated apocalypse may have claimed you long ago, but whether you wasted away and joined the ranks of the mutated or found a future for your 4-man family army, this new update has something for both parties.
No, you won't be playing a new game-mode centered around the family's shambling remains, but for those unable to pave the way for themselves in the dangerous world outside the titular shelter might benefit from the new difficulty options. As will those looking for a more brutal ride.

Changing between the 3 difficulty options will alter the frequency resources, rain, breach events and faction happenings. Casual players won't have to worry about diminished visibility through the classic fog of war and will come across docile expeditions often. If things seem a little too different, you can tweak and weave in options from other difficulties into one another.
You can view the full update listing over on Steam with a short list of bug fixes. With the Beta in effect for around 10 days only, you can access it by right-clicking the game in your Steam library and inputting "BetaForUpdate4" into the Betas tab. Just remember to help out with bug finds and suggestions when you can.
