Since release, Destiny 2 players have probably heard the word 'Sunshot' more than they'd like to admit. Using a weapon system that means the 'best weapon' isn't exactly fine-tuned to the requirements and perks of a specific class, the Sunshot is tailored for the Gunslinger class specifically. But where do you get it?
Like any good piece of equipment the Shunshot handcannon is an Exotic-grade item. That means it's rare as heck and you can only have a single Exotic equipped at any one time.
Unless you made the right decision during a specific quest during the Destiny 2 campaign, you're banking on engram RNG to pick this one up. There's no surefire or 'guaranteed' way of grabbing this handy blaster once that quest is out of the way, but perseverance will net you access at some point or another. It isn't really seen as a perfect PvP weapon, however, so it's probably not worth worrying about unless you're still working on PvE raid progress.
Here's an example of a chain kill pulled off with a Sunshot
Destiny 2 Infusion - What's With The 'Base Power Too Low' Alert?
But what makes the Sunshot a sought after weapon, you ask? Take a look at the perks it carries;
- Sunburn
- This weapon fires explosive rounds and highlights targets that take damage from Sunshot
- Chmabered Compensator
- Stable barrel attachment. Increases stability, improves recoil direction, and slightly decreases handling speed.
- Sun Blast
- Targets killed with Sunshot explode
- Accurized Rounds
- Increased Range
- Textured Grip
- Greatly increases handling speed and slightly decreases stability.
Though it won't come packing all of these potential rolls, any one of them can prove fatal in their own way.
We can imagine most will want at least Chambered Compensator or Sun Blast on there to increase their chances of pulling off a cool headshot or take out a group of enemies with the resulting explosion, but its core damage can be great in the right hands regardless.
It's a fine pickup for any Gunslinger. Just be prepared to get lucky or hope Xur decides to source his own stock.
