Fending off defeat or clutching victory with religion alone hasn't been an experience most Civilizations fans speak fondly of since Civilization V back in 2010. Making a reappearance in the sequel - Civilization VI - that struggled to meet player expectation, it's wonky utilisation didn't help matters. But Firaxes are still working on post-release patches, and Religion is the next to get a rework.
We've covered each of the seasonal Civilization VI patches since launch in our dedicated patch notes page. The Autumn Update is on the horizon, and we'll be sure to grab all the details when they're available.
Just like any other 4X strategy game, Civilization VI can be 'won' in many different ways. Players may opt to rule the nations with cold hard cash, brute force, making friends and essentially achieving world peace, scientific advances or, in rarer cases, ruling with religion.

The Autumn update will see a few changes come into play that should see a Religion Victory become something more enticing and entertaining. New belief; like Founder, Enchancer, Follower and Worship will come into effect with two new Pantheons added too. When it comes to combat, religious units will benefit from Zone of Control effects and receive Flank and Support bonuses in appropriate situations.
Of course, there's plenty more coming with the sizable seasonal update. They're not all mentioned just yet, but expect more rival civilizations taking to the seas, Diplomacy screen updates and other UI changes that should help streamline in-game navigation.
There's no solid date on the update just yet, but they're still using the 'OneMoreTurn' hashtag on social media to keep players in the loop.
