There's one thing the console circle gets absolutely right - a unified account system across almost every game available to it. On PC, however, we're often made to sign up to several different accounts, systems and launchers to access the ever-growing number of games available to us.
So now that the once console-only Destiny is PC-bound for its upcoming sequel, the time has come yet again for us to mess with accounts - but this time, it's deadly.
Reddit user Aerogizz jumped the gun with this one and reported losing access to their entire Bungie profile in the process. With Destiny 2, Activision has decided to make us of Bungie's own launcher as a way to keep a unified system. A welcome offer when you consider a large amount of PC games already run the Blizzard app for games like Overwatch, World of Warcraft, Starcraft II and Hearthstone to name a few. The merging of an existing Bungle account to your Blizzard profile, however, seemingly wasn't as easy as we'd like to hope.
It Looks Like 'Prey' Developer Arkane Are Gearing Up To Compete With Destiny And Anthem
Aerogizz came across the option to link their Blizzard account to their existing Bungie account when checking up on their Destiny 2 beta codes (it's happening soon). Deciding to get everything set up at once, they took the plunge - but ended up losing access to his Bungie account when the process pulled his Gamertag from his current account, linked it to a new Bungie account and tied to two to their existing Blizzard handle.
Many others complained of falling victim to the same issue. Though when out to confirm the situation, others found no mention of the problematic button. There's every chance it's been removed since, but it's best to be vigilant. The current system seems to simply have users go into the 'settings' tab of their Bungie profile where the process should be fairly straight-forward.
Take care, Guardians!
