A pair of modders have recreated the characters, weapons, sounds and functionality of Quake Champions, the latest installment in the online Quake series, in 1994's Doom II. Quake Champions: Doom Edition has also just released a new trailer showing off the latest character addition, the fan-favourite Nyx.

Quake Champions: Doom Edition is being created by modders DBThanatos and Michaelis. You can check out the ModDB page here, although there's not much to it right now since the mod's not yet ready for release. The recent Nyx trailer is the best look at how the mod runs, and while it obviously looks very like Doom it's still quite impressive.
The mod puts in the Quake Champions weapons such as Lightning Gun and Railgun, along with their sounds and functionality, along with 10 playable Champions - each with their own Passive and Active Abilities. Nyx, for example, has a Passive "Walljump" ability and an Active "Ghostwalk" ability, which is an utter pain in Quake Champions and it's part of the reason why she's so popular. Interestingly the modders aren't just planning to bring Quake Champions' characters over - aside from Nyx, Ranger and Doom Marine they've already implemented Kane, the player character marine from Quake 4. His Passive is Crouch-Sliding, and his Active is a "Stroyent Injection".
What's possibly more interesting is that there's also going to be a Single-Player side to the mod, adding all the Quake Champions weapons to face against classic Doom enemies. They've even got the game playing against Quake 1 enemies and Quake 2 enemies and Quake 4 enemies. All very impressive.
Quake Champions: Doom Edition isn't available yet, but it's obviously making great progress.
